It's Valentine's Day! I hope you all have someone you love to spend time with today, whether it's your significant other or your family.
Ah, Valentine's Day. All about love.
And books, too. Many books are all about love.
Like John Green's Fault in Our Stars, showing the tragedy of love. Hazel loved Augustus, and (spoiler alert) when he died, he took a piece of her with him.
JK Rowling's Harry Potter, Snape's unrequited love. He loved Lily Potter, even if she did not feel the same. Harry Potter is all about love. Snape's love for Lily took one of Voldemort's best Death Eaters, turning him against the Dark Lord and spy for Dumbeldore, almost ensuring his eventual demise. The lack of love between Tom Riddle's parents ruined his life, making him unable to understand such a strong emotion or feeling and causing his ultimate downfall. Lily's love saved Harry's life as an infant, Molly's love saved him as a child and teenager.
Love is so strong, isn't it? It can be shown, and shared in so many different ways. You can love family, friends, a boyfriend/girlfriend, a pet. It doesn't matter, as long as you love them with all your heart. Love gives us strength, power, a reason to fight (or just live).
Don't underestimate Love.
And, just a reminder,
"I wouldn't say love always makes you happy. Sometimes it makes you incredibly sad."
-Rick Riordan, House of Hades
